FAQs about our Vitamin C ++ Facial!
What are the benefits of vitamin C?
Vitamin C is a well-studied nutrient that helps to rid the body (internally and externally) of harmful toxins. When applied to the skin, vitamin C breaks down toxins that adhere to skin cells and repairs them. This renewal process helps to rebuild collagen and heals damage caused by factors such as UV exposure, inflammation, and many others.
I'm sensitive to vitamin C, is this treatment right for me?
This facial was created with sensitive skin in mind. Throughout this treatment, I utilize products containing vitamin C, hydroxy acids, and other active ingredients that can be used simultaneously in a specialized setting.
However, you know your skin best: if you are apprehensive, we suggest trying our signature Ultimate Hydrating Facial to begin your skincare journey with us.
What is a hydroxy acid and can it be combined with Vitamin C?
These are gentle acids that when applied to the skin, help to remove dead skin cells, minimize the appearance of pores, gently fade hyper-pigmentation, and reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
There are several kinds of hydroxy acids, but most common are alpha and beta hydroxy acids (AHA and BHAs) such as Salicylic, Lactic, and Glycolic acid to name a few. We use a mild, fruit-based exfoliating facial masque containing 10% lactic acid that ensures no downtime (skin recovery) or irritation.
At the right levels and formulation, hydroxy acids can boost the efficacy (absorption and performance) of vitamin C.
This treatment includes LED Therapy - what is that?
LED stands for Light Emitting Diodes and is a form of electric/light treatment that penetrates the skin at various degrees, ranging from superficial to the dermis. This form of light therapy is painless, non-invasive and relaxing. In this treatment, we use LED to help stimulate collagen and elastin production at the dermis level. You can learn more about LED on our latest post.
